Policies & Procedures
NOTE: The  application form BELOW can be filled in some browsers, if downloaded to a computer, can also be filled and printed.

Juniors and seniors, based on their academic performance, will be able to earn off- campus lunch privileges for all four advisories.  Sophomores will be able to earn off- campus lunch privileges for the 4th term only.  The following are the requirements to qualify for off campus lunch:

Juniors and Seniors

Must be a senior (have earned at least 18 credits and passed English 11)

Must be a junior (have earned at least 12 credits and passed English 10)

Earn honor roll during the previous advisory (3.0 GPA or better)

Must have completed required PARCC 2019 exams

Must have parent permission (a signed and verified permission slip)


Qualifications for Sophomores:

Must be a sophomore (have earned at least 6 credits and passed English 9)

Must have earned honor roll ALL THREE Advisories prior to the 4th term

Must have completed required PARCC 2019 and 2020 exams

Must have parent permission (a signed permission slip and required online verification if student is eligible for this privilege.)


Procedures:

Must complete and turn in a signed application form by the end of the announced deadline.  (Deadlines will be announced via morning announcements and weekly bulletin.) Parents must approve off campus lunch for their child.

Must have DCPS Student ID to use off-campus lunch privilege; We strongly request that students use their ID cards to check out for off-campus lunch.  

All students must be re-screened when entering the building.

No outside food permitted in the building.

Must re-enter the school by 12:25 on normal schedule days.

Must show their ID on request when returning.

May only go to businesses one block to the north and one block to the south on Wisconsin Avenue.

Must cross at the cross walks and obey all pedestrian signals.


Revocation of Off Campus Lunch Privileges:

Privilege revoked for a designated period of time if a student:
  • Fails to return or returns late for the class (normally period 05 or 06) after STEP (one unexcused absence = removal for one term; 3 tardies = removal two weeks; 4 tardies = removal for one term). Counting unexcused absences and tardies for days a student uses his/her privilege starts fresh each term. Consequences can carry over from a previous term
  • Is no longer eligible for off-camps lunch due to the student’s term GPA. However privilege will be re-instated if student becomes eligible at the end of a subsequent term.
  • Is suspended at any point during the term
Privilege revoked for the entire year if a student:
  • Gives his/her off-campus lunch identification information to another student to access off-campus privileges
  • Participates in any illegal activities during the lunch period
