    The Wilson Hackathon Team is excited to announce our second annual computer science Hackathon, to be held at Facebook's DC headquarters (575 7th Street NW, near Metro Center) on Saturday, February 1, 9 am-6 pm. The Hackathon is for high school students with all levels of coding experience--no programming experience required. There will be a variety of workshops offered for all ability levels. It’s free, and food and prizes will be provided!

    Parents of juniors: Please join us at this event to have all of your questions about college answered! Patrice Arrington of Wilson’s College and Career Center, along with Patrice Maites and Bobby Collins, your 11th grade counselors, will present on everything you need to know about the college application process and what juniors need to be doing now to prepare. We will also discuss the FAFSA and DC-CAP scholarship opportunities. The presentation will be in English and Spanish. All are encouraged to attend. We will see you there!

    Are you curious about the drugs that adolescents are using? Would you like to learn more about patterns of behavior that suggest drug use? Are you curious about the harmful effects caused by the use of marijuana, pills, or vaping?

    The Wilson HS Mental Health Team is presenting a Tiger Talk on “Substance-Use Prevention...An Informal Collaboration with Wilson Parents and Community Partners.” Please join in the conversation! Light refreshments will be served. The first 25 participants will receive a gift card to a local business!

    Participating community partners: Wards 3 & 4 Prevention Center; Hillcrest Children and Family Center; MacArthur Baker International (MBI) Health Services, LLC; Latin American Youth Center (LAYC); and Potomac Pathways.
